Job Summary
Provide leadership for the successful management and enhancement of our global material’s supply chain as required to deliver our Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory, and Innovation business objectives.  Organize and direct the strategic initiatives and daily operations of our Strategic Sourcing, Production Scheduling, and Inventory Control processes.  Establish a world-class supply chain/materials management organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Utilize Joslyn Sunbank tools and techniques to identify, develop, and implement strategy, policy, processes, tools, metrics, action plans, bowlers, and countermeasures as required to deliver our Policy Deployment (PD) business objectives (i.e. inventory reduction, purchase price variance (PPV), and On-Time-Delivery)
  • Drive complete kanban conversion and maintenance, along with the appropriate supplier parameter management (i.e. blanket PO’s, lead-time and minimum order quantity reduction) required to support our kanban materials flow system
  • Provide leadership to our overall materials flow throughout the supply chain.  This includes, but is not limited to scheduling/level-loading, planning, sourcing, purchasing, transportation, logistics, receiving, storage, internal material flow, shipment, and customer delivery.
  • Lead strategic sourcing funnel efforts with direct focus on low-cost region (LCR) sourcing and manufacturing
  • Drive supply base rationalization/consolidation while utilizing our preferred supply base
  • Optimize the balance between PPV and Inventory (total landed cost and inventory cost of capital), while ensuring parts availability and delivery of cost-out objectives
  • Work collaboratively with the Operations Leader to identify and implement make-buy opportunities to lower cost and improve working capital turns
  • Lead our supplier development efforts.  Identify target suppliers; establish expectations, action plans, and results scorecards to deliver required improvements and sustainability
  • Provide expertise in purchasing contracts and PO terms and conditions to ensure that all purchasing deals are in accordance with business guidelines and objectives
  • Provide sourcing support to our Contracts and R&D teams to ensure that we have optimal supply chain and costs prior to launching a contract/product
  • Recruit, develop, and retain supply chain talent as required to establish a world-class materials organization

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in related field required.  Analytical degree (i.e. math/engineering) preferred
  • Hands-on experience in shop floor operations leadership
  • Practical and applied knowledge of sourcing, purchasing, and overall procurement processes, systems, and practices
  • Working knowledge and advanced training in Lean manufacturing concepts and techniques with significant exposure to Kanban managed supply chain
  • Proven ability to develop and enhance a suboptimal organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a rapid changing, intense, and demanding environment
  • Outstanding spreadsheet utilization skills along with proficiency in word processing and presentation software (MS Office).  Oracle applications desired
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications
  • Familiarity in a military environment dealing with FAR/DFAR regulations
